At Laguna Fin Co. we are inspired by travel. The places we swim and the people (and animals) we swim with always keep us coming back for more. We recently went to Hawaii and every morning on our open water swims we ran into sea turtles. Their grace and presence in the water is undeniably majestic. We can't help but learn from this ancient species since they have been swimming since the time of the dinosaurs (for about 110 million years). The fastest human ever recorded is the French swimmer Frédérick Bousquet in the 50 m freestyle with a time of 20.94 seconds, which is an average speed of 5.342 mph. Sea turtles can swim in bursts of up to 22 mph! No competition here, the sea turtles have us beat. Mahalo to the Hawaiian islands for creating such an amazing playground for us to share with these true locals of the ocean. This is what #swimminthedream is all about.
